Gigaquit, Surigao del Norte – In order to ensure the learners’ participation in the National Learning Camp (NLC) 2023, the Gigaquit National School of Home Industries (GNSHI) initiated to offer free back-and-forth transportation to all NLC learners through its Free Bus Ride Program.
The program is the school’s way of helping the learners and their families by lessening their expenses and for their safe travel.
In an interview, Marisol Moleta Galido the Principal IV of GNSHI said, “Since the NLC is voluntary, we needed to find ways how to encourage learners’ participation, and that is through our Free Bus Ride Program especially since it is summer and our learners are supposed to be at their homes this time of year.”
She also added that this initiative is considered one of the school’s best practices in the conduct of the NLC.
Not just the Grade 7 and 8 NLC participants are catered in this program but also the incoming Grade 12 learners who are enrolled in the offered advanced Grade 12 subjects as well as the teaching and non-teaching force of GNSHI.
At least 150 learners have benefitted from the program since its implementation on the first day of the NLC.
