Cognizant to the DepEd’s commitment to learning recovery, Campo NHS showed strong support to the implementation of the National Learning Camp purposively initiated to improve learners’ performances and strengthen teachers’ capacities.

As manifestation, NLC was one of the agenda during the 2nd SPTA Assembly conducted last July 17, 2023. Parents expressed positive response to the program. “Nindot ni siya nga programa sa gobyerno kay mapulian ang panahon og kahibalo sa mga bata sa panahon nga nag modular sila tungod sa pandemya. Musuporta gyud ko ani. Paapilon naku akong bata.” A Grade 7 parent said during the meeting.

Prior to the implementation, orientation sessions were conducted to the Grades 7 and 8 learners and parents. With the consent of the parents, a total of 155 Grades 7 and 8 learners showed intent to join the camp of which 115 learners will be in the Consolidation Camps and 40 learners will be in the Intervention Camps. “Gusto naku madungagan pa ako kahibayo. Ako gamiton ako bakasyon sa pag-apil sa camp kaysa mag istambay ra ako sa bayay. Talagsaon ra in inga oportunidad og para raman sab ini sa ako pagtuon. Excited nako!,” a Grade 8 learner said after the orientation.

To facilitate the fun-filled learning, a total of 7 NLC teachers voluntarily offered their services in fields of Mathematics, Science and Technology and English. These teachers have been capacitated on content and pedagogical knowledge and skills required for the facilitation. “Andam ko mutahan sa ako oras og kusog para sa implementasyon nan ini nga programa,. Nindot man sab pamation nga nakatabang kita sa pagpalambo sa kahibayo sa mga bata og mahatagan sila og dugang pang mga activities nga makakat-on sila nga malipayon,” said Mrs. Josephine W. Suruiz (Teacher III), a volunteer NLC teacher for Science and Technology in Grade 8.

In preparation, series of planning sessions were conducted by the school together with the partners and stakeholders leading to the successful printing of learning materials, assigning and preparing of classrooms, information and education campaigns and other necessary logistical and technical requirements prior to its implementation.

The NLC is part of the National Learning Recovery Program (NLRP) as articulated in MATATAG: Bansang Makabata, Batang Makabansa agenda of the Department of Education designed to address learning losses during the COVID-19 pandemic.

And all has been set for the NLC mindset!
